Each year in March, the global data center industry comes together to recognize International Data Center Day – a moment to celebrate the people, expertise and commitment behind the infrastructure that powers today’s digital economy and enables Vantage’s purpose: to be the digital foundation for a thriving world.

Data centers may operate largely behind the scenes, yet their impact is everywhere. They enable the connectivity we rely on, the innovation driving modern business and the resilience that keeps digital services running for communities around the world. From cloud computing and streaming to healthcare, finance and emerging technologies, data centers are the foundation – and people make them possible.

The People Behind the Infrastructure

At the heart of every data center are the teams who design, build, operate and protect these critical facilities. Operators, engineers, construction professionals, security teams, project managers and support functions work every day to deliver safe, reliable and high quality operations. Their expertise and discipline ensure that digital infrastructure performs as expected 24x7x365, in all conditions.

Inspiring the Next Generation

Beyond recognition, International Data Center Day is also about awareness and inspiration – helping the next generation understand what data centers do, why they matter and the wide range of careers available across operations, engineering, construction and skilled trades.

As part of this year’s activities, our New Albany, Ohio, team hosted a hands-on data center day event, welcoming students and their parents into one of our facilities.

Participants had the opportunity to see real equipment up close, learn how data centers support everyday life and hear directly from industry professionals about career paths in the data center ecosystem. Experiences like these help demystify the industry and open doors to future talent.

Building Stronger Communities Through Local Engagement

Our commitment extends beyond the walls of our data centers. We invest in the communities where we build and operate through our Community Engagement Ambassador Program – an employee-led initiative designed to strengthen local partnerships, support workforce development and foster long-term community trust.

Community ambassadors work alongside schools, nonprofits, workforce organizations and local partners to help align community needs with opportunity. The program focuses on advancing education and workforce development while supporting hyperlocal initiatives shaped by the priorities of each market. By empowering employees to serve as local ambassadors, we ensure our engagement is authentic, sustained and rooted in the communities we serve.

This approach allows us to show up not just as a data center developer and operator, but as a committed partner supporting local talent pipelines, strengthening relationships and contributing to community resilience.
